Hello all! I realized the other day that I’ve never actually shared my travel plans with you and thought it’d be good to keep you in the loop. As you’ve probably deduced, I’ll be going to Germany at the end of February. I’ll be staying in Kassel for a bit (yes, there’ll be lots of pictures) and then heading south to Freiburg. I’ll be taking classes at the University of Freiburg, including a month-long pre-session in March before “real classes” start. I’m actually looking forward to the pre-session because it’ll give me a chance to ease back into speaking German regularly. Plus, it’ll be nice to have free time to roam wherever I please. Freiburg is in the Black Forest region and it’s almost directly on the German-French border.
While abroad, I hope to do a lot of traveling. My family will be visiting me while I’m in Germany, and together we’ll be hitting up more of the typical tourist haunts. At the end of May, we’ll be visiting Neuschwanstein Castle, Straßburg (Austria), and will do a bit of hiking in the Swiss Alps. My dad and I will be touring Paris at the end of July as well as Normandy. I haven’t quite decided where I’ll be traveling by myself, but I for sure want to visit Amsterdam and Belgium. Wherever I go, I’ll keep you updated on where I stay, what I see, and, most importantly, where I find the best ice cream.
If you have any suggestions on where I should travel, please leave me a comment below!
Signing off,
Claire
