I have no idea where the past few months have gone. It seems like just yesterday that I was starting my last semester of college, worried sick about juggling my time between an internship and a full class load while writing my undergraduate thesis. Before I knew it, I was a terrified college graduate faced with the real world, convinced I was going to wind up living in a box for the rest of my life, or worse—my parent’s house.
You’ve probably noticed that I’ve been a bit silent here on the blog for a while. That’s not because I didn’t want to write (that will never happen!), it’s because I was busy working three jobs and planning my big move out east. After a summer at home filled with some much needed family time and kitty cuddles, I’m so excited to share with you all my biggest adventure yet: my move to New York City!
I’ve wanted to live in NYC since I was in middle school. Granted, 6th grade me was convinced I was going to become a Broadway star (ha!), so I don’t know how excited I would have been to know my life wasn’t destined for the stage. As it is, college grad me is thrilled that my Broadway shenanigans are confined to singing in the shower and that I have a (gasp!) real job.
Yep, you read that right. Before I jump into the super exciting news, let me back it up and tell you how this all happened. After I graduated, I decided I’d stay at home for the summer and save up for the move to New York. All the jobs I had been applying for were out east, so I figured I might as well bite the bullet and leave Indiana (sorry, Grandma!). I moved in with my cousin in New Jersey and started taking the train into NYC to visit the office of the company I was working for part-time. After a week and a half in the city, I was offered a full-time position.
Needless to say, I was over-the-moon pumped to be extended this offer and I said that YES, OF COURSE I’LL WORK HERE. Since then, I’ve found an amazing roommate (hi Tricia!) and signed the lease for my new apartment. My dad was here last weekend helping me put together my furniture, and I’m finally all settled down. Isn’t it crazy how life just comes together? If you had told me I’d land my dream job, find an amazing apartment, and an equally awesome roomie all in the span of one month, I’d have told you you were nuts.
Now that I’m all moved in, I’m eager to start exploring NYC so I can share all my adventures with you. If there’s a restaurant you’re dying to get an honest review of or a neighborhood you haven’t had the chance to explore yet, let me know! I can’t wait for us to see NYC together, friends.
What’s going on with you right now? Anything exciting about to happen? I’d love to know!
Signing off,
Claire

I’ve been to NYC a few times, but never to the Upper East Side or Harlem…could “we” explore those neighborhoods?

My co-worker Rachel says: My sorority sister has a cupcake wine bar in the west village, Sweet Revenge. You have to check it out!!! So cute and yummy. The food is insanely good. Marlo Scott is the owner.
